Healthcare
If anyone wanted truly to save
money for the government they would only have to go to the Medicare Advantage
program. Ten years ago the feds had a plan to stop MA plans from
overcharging the industry. When the plans didn't like it the feeds backed
off. Now they are cheating the feds like crazy. The feds now claim
probably rightfully that UnitedHealth MA has cheated them out of $2
Billion. That is probably really only a small amount of actuality.
United and others falsely exaggerate how sick patients are with feathering of
the diagnosis to back up their false claims. The problems of today's
overspending by fed med are a direct shot from CMS pulling back a decade ago.
Hospitals
The
physicians of South County Health in Wakefield, Rhode Island, have called for a
leadership change in their hospital. They do not like the way the CEO is
running the hospital due to current "staff shortages" The
hospital is covering up by stating there is a challenging healthcare environment.
There has always been and will always continue to be a challenging healthcare environment
for those who want there to be. Here their three oncologist resigned en
masse and the hospital announced at the same time that three new hematologists
have been hired.
The
medical faculty at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, have
signed a no confidence letter against their CEO and their dean of the school of
medicine. They accuse the leaders of a poor work environment and the cause
of the fleeing of staff, along with the hiring of non-qualified staff.
They accuse the leaders of using tenure and promotion delays as retaliation for
going against the leader's wishes. The University President said that
many of the issues have been addressed and the two accused are worthy of
support.
Santa
Clara County in California is purchasing Regional Medical Center.
Advocates in the Black East Palo Alto area are calling for community reparations
as part of the sale. Of course, California had no part in the slavery of
the Civil War era but that never stopped a good bribery.
Physicians
I
am putting this under physicians even though it pertains to nurse
midwives. The University of California has made a decision to stop the
Master program for nurse midwives. They will offer a doctorate program
instead. This will add time and expense to those who wish to become the
advanced practitioners. The Democrats who love their DEI regs decry the
decision even though it is part of the national trend to require all advanced practitioners
to get doctorate degrees. They , as usual, want lesser ability for lesser
trained people. The nurse-midwife association does not believe the extra year of
training will add knowledge to their workforce. Another dumb statement.
Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai has
suspended OB/GYN Dr. Barry Brook without any peer review procedures. He
says he resigned his position without any fact finding or hearing on the
merits. He was allegedly accused of unnecessary physical exams and forcing
women to give birth vaginally instead of via C-Section. There were three
total complaints covering his 46 year medical career.
