There is a power struggle going on between CMS and Saint Francis Health System in Oklahoma over a candle that is kept burning in its chapel. The Joint Commission issued a warning about it which has not been removed and the hospital says either give us a waiver or go to court. The candle has been passed by the local fire department and the feds in the past. It is encased in glass and covered on top. CMS has threatened that the hospital could lose funding if the flame is not extinguished. Several days after the CMS was threatened they backed off. Let the fire burn! California legislators are again showing their stupidity. They are giving $150 million to hospitals that need saving. That will only pause the problem. The hospitals in the rural parts of the state need more money per patient from Medicaid. That the legislators will not give them. The hospitals will go under or require multiple infusions of cash.
