US v Mount
Indicted
Joseph Mount, the now former COO of Steck Medical Group has been charged with several offenses stemming from his leading 150 people through the Grand Csnyon on a hiking trip in valuation of park rules and lying to Park Rangers. Top
Kansas Heart Hospital v Smith,
Heismeyer

The hospital filed suit against their former COO Steve Smith and former CFO Joyce Heismeyer for fraud and theft. They contend that the pair between 2015 and 2020 stole $31 million along with the hospital president Dr. Gregory Duick by diverting funds and sent much of it to an investment firm but kept almost $2 million for themselves. They are also accused of deleting computer files, setting up a great severance package for them selves and then resigning. Duick is not named in the suit.
Dean v US
Settlement
The government has agreed to pay the family of Charles Dean $625,000 to settle a claim of his death being related to a nurse, Reta Mays, at the Louis Johnson VA intentionally injecting him with insulin. Mays has plead guilty to seven counts of second degree murder and will be sentenced shortly.
US v Neurosurgical Associates, Dignity Health
Settlement
The entities agreed to pay $10 million to settle allegations that they billed for overlapping surgeries at Arizona's St. Joseph Hospital which is not allowed by law.
US v Asfora
Settlement
Dr. Wilson Asfora, a neurosurgeon in Sioux falls, South Dakota and two medical device firms that he owns agreed to pay $4.4 million to settle allegations that they violated the Antikickback Statue. The companies paid Asfora to use certain medical devices. Previously the feds got $33 million from Sanford Hospital and $9 million from Medtronic.
US v Incyte Corp
Settlement
Incyte has agreed to pay $12.6 million to settle allegations that they used illegally a foundation to pay for the copays of people taking their medications.
US v CareCloud Health Inc
Settlement
The company agreed to pay $3.8 million to settle allegations that they paid illegal kickbacks to esisting clients to recommend their EHR system.
US v University of Miamai
Settlement
The school will pay $22mllion to settle charges that they knowingly converted physician offices to hospital facilities and then sought payment at hospital levels without notifying the beneficiaries. They had been warned about the practices prior to being charged. Top
Fype v Edward-Elmhurst Hospital
Local Judge
Covid patient Nurije Fype is in a coma in ICU and on a vent. The daughter wants him to get Ivermectin and the hospital and the physicians refused stating there is not having any approved use in this disease. The hospital has approved an outside physician to come in to administer the court ordered drug. Top
