In England there is a trial of a nurse accused murdering seven babies. As part of the trial physicians testified that they found problems with her care and notified the administrators. They were told not to "make a fuss". I guess hospitals are the same the world over. Britain's junior doctors, those who are qualified but early in their career, have gone on strike shutting down the health system. The nurses have also gone on strike as have much of the public sector. The country can not afford to pay for all the services promised. About 90% of the US physicians say that prior authorizations lead to worse patient outcomes. They say it lead to delayed access to necessary care and had a negative impact on outcomes. One-third said that they lead directly to serious events including death. I am not sure what is wrong with the other 10% or if they are just liars or believe their job in dependant on lying. Top The Georgia Democrats do not like that Wellstar has closed two hospitals in predominately black areas and have asked the OCR to look into the closings. Could it be that the hospitals are losing money in those locations due to the payer mix? They are also accusing the hospitals of not doing enough for the community and wanting them to pay $100 million or so.
