California has lowered the boom on LA Care. They have fined the HMO $55 million for poor care and not following state rules for patient referrals. The law says patients must get referrals to specialists within 15 days. For the Medicaid HMO it was 89 days. Pure negligence. This is the company that the same day the massive fine was announced decried in newspaper articles hat Kaiser was being given unfair advantage over them for patients.
