A recent report has shown that the United Kingdom's NHS not only exposed over 30,000 patients to HIV and Hepatitis but also covered up the facts.  The victims are now calling for compensation.  The NHS is essentially broke.

Kaiser Permanente has announced their Quarter 1 figures.  They had a $935 operating profit, a huge year over year increase.  This is not hard to do when one receives payments ahead of treating patients and then either delays treatment or does not provide the treatment.  

California has announced a bid deal, the first day without a Covid death in 4 years.  This is a big deal because the state pumps up their numbers by including all those who died with Covid along with all those who died from Covid.  

Mayo Clinic has apologized for bringing in a speaker they knew or should have known is pro women sports, not pro transgender competing as women.  The speaker did not talk about her particular bent but that made no difference they still had to apologize.  Dumb.        Top

Nebraska based Great Plains Health will drop all Medicare Advantage plans starting next year.  This is the latest in hospital systems that have opted for the Advantage drop out.  

Be careful what you wish for.  Ashville, North Carolina Mission Hospital has lost almost all of its urologists after they dismissed one without cause.  They originally had 10 and now only two remain to take call.  They will need to pay them a bunch more money per person to have them agree to call every other.  Also they have been sued by the state for allegedly cutting emergency and cancer care at the hospital.

UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center has a nurse problem.  They want to change the scheduling of the float nurses and the nurses won't have it.  Over 200 nurses are threatening to quit if the hospital does not back down.        Top

Physicians

The physicians at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara County, California, are planning to unionize.  These are the residents and fellow physicians who want more pay.  They are the last of the Kaiser physicians in the state who are union represented.  

The physicians at Delaware's Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital and Middletown free-standing Emergency Departmenet are also planning to unionize.  The 400 or so physicians with the local SEIU.  

Optum's Eugene, Oregon Medical group will not enforce any non-compete clauses on their departing physicians or nurses.  They have lost 32 physicians in the last two years and have stopped accepting new patients due to the lack of physicians.        Top
