CMS has proposed in the new OPPS that physicians must oversee outpatient by being present on the hospital campus and immediately available. Hospital campus is not defined. Non-physician practitioners may do this if permitted by the state and the hospital bylaws. Top The Los Angeles Times had an article several days ago regarding the California nursing board not doing its job in disciplining nurses. After a quick look at the problem, The Terminator agreed and fired half the board including the president. Another board member then resigned and replacements have been named.
