The Joint commission is overhauling its standards  They have eliminated 168 standards and revised an additional 14.

Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Washington will lay off eight psychiatrists.  They will be eligible to be hired back but if they are they will be expected to do more for the same or less money.  

The WSJ had a front page major article on the nefarious not for profit hospitals evading their community responsibility.  They show how they tend to abandon the inner cities for the more insurance covered areas.  They call out Ascension in Chicago along with Bon Secours Mercy.

The administration has a Christmas present for hospitals. They intend in 2023 to possibly issue executive orders regarding cyber security in the hospitals.  To date, hospitals have for the most part not been very compliant with HIPAA security standards leading to significant cyberattacks and some patient fatalities.  This may force them to get up to date.        Top
