CMS is looking into The Joint Commission and their two tier program of accreditation and consulting.  They make most of their money from the for profit consulting arm.  CMS also found that only 1% of the facilities not in compliance lost accreditation.  Since after they are found not to be in compliance the hospitals engage the for profit arm and miraculously they are saved and accredited.  TJC says their is a firewall between the two agencies but we all know about that firewall.  

Illinois has a new law in January requiring physicians to tell patients if they have dense breast tissue.  This goes along with 36 other states that have the same law.  The AMA is against this law and is powerless to do anything about any law as it has no power.        Top
