Humana reported a $12 Billion profit for 2024. This included a 4th Quarter loss of $693 million. The HMO has exited an unprofitable Medicare Advantage program causing over 500,000 to look for coverage elsewhere. It will try to increase its Medicaid management business. PBS has but out a news story about the huge rise in California's advanced prostate cancer cases. They allude to the fact that the United States Preventative Services Task Force screwed up back in 2012 when it but out its badly worded and poorly thought out directive that PSA screening should be stopped. That has caused more suffering and deaths from the disease as any urologist or oncologist would have told them. Unfortunately there were none on the committee that primary care physicians and HMOs listen to in order to limit care. Top The Residents at the University of Colorado want to become a union however state law requires that the University consent to collective bargaining and the university does not consent. The residents can not even meet with the board to discus it. None of the state hospitals have unions for technicians or for nurses either.
