Over half of the psychiatrists in New South Wales, Australia's largest state, have resigned from the public system. This should collapse the whole mental health system of the stare. The physicians want a pay increase. They state they are paid about 30% less than the brethren in other states. This makes recruiting and keeping physicians almost impossible.
Kaiser has been accused by an article as well as by the feds of doing an atrocious job of protecting patients in their studies. They did not allow their IRB to have any teeth in their policies and as a result there was patient harm. The two main researcher involved in the study have been suspended for allegedly coving up by withholding information from study participants and those overseeing them. Just one more example of Kaiser's laxity in not only research but in other fields as well.
The New Mexico Medical Board took Dr. Mark Erasmus's medical license. The neurosurgeon had 26 law suits against him in which settlements totaled $19 million since 2001. He is appealing the decision so he can pursue other non-operative duties.
