The Biden administration has withdrawn its Covid vaccination regulation for large business after the Supreme Court said it was not constitutional. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra is being scolded by public health officials for being a no-show during the pandemic. It really isn't his fault. He was looking for more cases to file against President Trump. Why do hospitals want to get bad publicity? Aurora Colorado's Children's Hospital is getting a black eye for a ridiculous billing policy. They bill facility fees for telehealth appointments. Which facility are they billing for? The patient's house? the provider's house? A patient got a bill for $676 after providers watched her son for two hours to determine if he needed speech therapy. This seems reasonable. Two weeks later she got a second bill for $850 for the Zoom visit. This will not only cost the facility bad publicity but hopefully patients as well. Another hospital got terrible publicity when its ED staff staged a hour walkout. Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (California) had their ED staff walk out in a non-union action action in protest to their dislike of the for profit that is control of the ED physicians. The contract for Apollo's ED group is up in one week and the staff want the hospital to not renew it. As most for profits it is centered on profit and not necessarily on patients. The staff believes they are understaffed and the last straw came when the group fired the chief of the department from his position after he spoke out. I would hate to think what will happen if the hospital renews the contract but they are also profit motivated.
