The dreaded Medicare Payment Advisory Commission has decreed that hospitals should get a 2% raise this next fiscal year but the physicians should get nothing.  They have found the access to physicians by Medicare recipients was so good that no incentive was needed.  They do not take into effect inflation as the cost of running a business continues to increase since they do not have costs information.

Medicare has put in a new rule removing 1740 surgeries from a required to be performed in a hospital list.  This will allow these services to be performed in an outpatient setting at a lower cost.  This may be more expensive for patients who do not have a Medicare supplemental insurance as they would be paying for more services.         Top

Cal/OSHA has fined Sutter $155,250 for serious Covid related safety violations at their Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.  They failed to ensure Covid patients were properly isolated and they failed to provide N95 masks to the nurses.  Because of this one nurse caught the disease and died.         Top
