Chicago's Medicaid plan CountyCare owes over $350 million to physicians.  They are over 90 days in arrears due to delayed payments by the state and the county.  

Cook County Board of Commissioners want and got more say in the running of Cook County Hospital.  They got a new member on the board appointed by the Board President.  The Board is attempting to get a handle on the uncompensated care issue.  

Sonoma Valley Hospital in California fired an 86 year old physician because he would not follow hospital guidelines on prescribing narcotics.  He found them wanting as it would limit the amount of narcotics he could prescribe.  He believes in weaning people off not stopping them.  

Congo has finally discharged its last Ebola patient from the outbreak that occurred in August 2018.  

Hospitals

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has fired several employees for illegally snooping into a patient.  They looked at the medical record of Nathaniel Berhow who died at the hospital after allegedly murdering two high school classmates.

Physicians

Physician consolidation continues.  Advocare, a physician owned multi-specialty group in New Jersey and Pennsylvania just grew by adding five more independent practices.  It is now almost 600 strong.
