The FDA has approved 23and Me, a home testing company, permission to test for three breast cancer mutations.  There will be no extra charge for obtaining these three reports.  These mutations are particularly common in central European Jews.   

The House Democrats scuttled the proposed law that would have allowed patients with terminal illnesses to try unproven treatments.  The bill required a 2/3 vote and fell just short.  This may be taken up again but with only a simple majority vote.

California finally got some sense.  They rejected single payer healthcare.  They did recommend a report giving more ways o reduce costs and increase coverage.       Top

The Joint Commission has found the Phoenix VA did not lock up dangerous chemicals and plastic bags.  These may have been utilized by vets with mental health problems for harm to self or others.  They also found prescription and care done was not found in the medical records.  The JC also said the leadership at the institution was lack in holding staff responsible in several aspects including hemodialysis and hepatitis screening.          Top
