Healthcare jobs have been lost at a staggering amount.  In April over 1.4 million were lost.  In May 312,000 ambulatory healthcare jobs returned.  Most of these were in dental offices,

As all know President Trump lauded and took Chloroquine for Covid protection.  He had no adverse side effects but was roundly criticized by the media and the medical community.  They pointed to a study in Lancet and another in the NEJM staing the med had no significant effect and caused some cardiac harm.  These papers have now been withdrawn as they relied on suspect data and were potentially tainted by the political beliefs of the journals.

JAMA reported that 20% of patients when given a chance to review their ambulatory medical records founds errors in their records and 40% of those said they were serious errors.  The most important mistakes were in the diagnosis portion, where patients were given diagnosis they did not have.  They also found mistakes in meds and allergies.  I know that I have never had a correct medical record regarding my meds.  I give the imputer the list each time and the next time the list is wrong.

Blue Cross of North Carolina is bribing primary care practices to change the way they bill.  They know independent practices are having problems during the pandemic and will send payments if they switch to what they deem is value care billing.  This means they must join an ACO that they manage.              Top

Cleveland's University Hospitals has money problems so they are cutting pay for all physicians and clinical leaders.  They cut the clinical work by 7% and admin work by10%.  Clinical leaders got a 10% cut.  

Why is this happening?  In the wake of the pandemic there was a 23% decrease in ED visits for MI, 20% decrease for stroke and 10% less for diabetic hyperglycemia.  In NY City the study showed that in May there were 5000 more deaths from non-Covid causes than the seasonal norm.          Top
