In an article from The Hill we are told that a new survey found 18% of those queried said they could not afford quality health care.  They did not define quality healthcare.  This was higher among Blacks and Latinos.  In the White population those over 65 said the same thing.  This is incomprehensible as Medicare and Ocare are available.

A new report shows that ED physicians get 20% more for seeing out of network patients than they do seeing in-network ones.  On the flip side the report showed that patients who received care out of network paid more than 10 times the amount other emergency patients paid.

Watertown (Wisconsin) Regional Medical Center is not acting responsibly.  They have replaced their anesthesiologists with CRNAs.  There is no question for most regular cases the lesser individuals are OK but when the s--t hits the fan there will be malpractice claims against the hospital for this move.

The nurses of the Eleanor Slater Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital in Cranston, Rhode Island voted a no confidence vote for the top execs of the hospital.  Normally this would just be a union thing and of no significance but this is different.  It is alleged that the execs began the closure of the facility and pressured physicians to start discharging the patients.  Some physicians would not comply and they left the hospital.   There are now two Physicians for 74 patients at the hospital campus but there is another campus and so physicians can be rotated.  The head of the hospital lost his license for exposing himself to children and then got it back after going to therapy.  The CEO has been removed but she still the CFO assigned to the agency that runs the facility.        Top
