The Kaiser foundation reports that about 20% of people have found errors in their electronic medical records.  About the same number believed that EMR would actually reduce costs but almost 2/3 said it would improve care.  Almost 60% said they had privacy concerns.  I believe that these perceptions are accurate.  The younger patients like the EMR and older patients do not.        Top

Lutheran Hospital in fort Wayne, Indiana, is having physician problem.  In December they lost at least temporarily their GI physicians, their burn unit and now their heart transplant program.  They had one cardiologist who was trained for transplant an she is leaving for greener pastures.  The surgeon left.  Someone should look at the administration to see why physicians are leaving.

A well known transgender surgeon at the University of Miami has resigned after he stupidly placed pics of genitalia on line.  He thought (maybe) he was doing an educational service to post the pics.  Dr. Christopher Salgado is now looking for a new position.  He does take the blame for his own stupidity.

The feds have warned Detroit Medical Center that it has only weeks to correct problems or it will lose federal funding.  

Cass regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Kansas , has regained its good graces with CMS.  It was in trouble after a person died post colonoscopy from internal bleeding.  The hospital had failed to recognize the seriousness of the incident and failed to do a sentinel event study.  They also had severe sterility problems.

The residents at UC Davis have voted on unionization.  Watch for this if the progressive's get fed med and control medicine.        Top
